Moong dal ki karhi

Cooking Indian food is not very tough. You will find that cooking steps of Indian recepies is most easy to follow. One of the Indian recepie we will talk about is Moong dal ki karhi. So are you ready to prepare this recepie? Ok then go now.

You will require following ingredients:

Two full cup of moong dal
250 grams curd
I tablespoon besan
One-teaspoon cumin seeds, roasted and ground
One-teaspoon turmeric powder
One-teaspoon coriander powder
A pinch of asafetida
One and a half teaspoon amchoor
Ghee or oil for frying
Salt to taste

Follow the below steps for preparing the recepie, Moong-dal ki karhi:

Soak the dal in water for about eight hours and remove the husk. Grind finely. Then add asafetida to the dal and churn it vigorously. Now heat ghee or oil in a thick pan and bring it to a boil. Now take the thin mixture of the dal and pour it piece by piece taking it on the edge of your hand and let it drop gently into the boiling ghee. Fry these pieces or 'Katra' till they turn deep brown.

Now take the well-beaten curd in a big container (Bhagona) and add double quantity of water to it. Let it boil for about 15 minutes. Then add besan to it. Continue stirring the fluid otherwise lumps of besan may be formed. When the whole solution begins to boil vigorously, add the fried pieces gently to it and again, boil it on low flame until the moong-pieces are tender. But don't boil them as much as to make them break. Remove it from the fire. Now take ghee in a big spoon and add a little of asafoetida, cumin seeds and red chillies and season with the karhi already prepared. Keep it on sim flame until the seasoning effect is well permeated in the whole karhi.

Your recepie is ready and now you can serve it hot garnished with coriander. It tastes superb with fried dry moong dal (Dhoi) and rice combination or with chane ki roti-chapatis made from the gram flour. Moong dal is considered as one of the most useful ingredients in preparing Indian food. Taste it and you will love to prepare similar kind of Indian recepies.
