Dal chana

You require following ingredients for preparing this recepie, Dal chana:

250 grams dal chana
Six full cup of water
Two tablespoons ghee
Two-teaspoon salt
One-teaspoon turmeric
One-teaspoon garam masala
Two medium-sized onions chopped
Two tablespoons of broken methi (fenugreek) seeds
One and a half long piece of ginger
One teaspoon of chilli powder

Steps to prepare Dal chana:

Sort and wash the dal and let it soak it for 30 minutes or so. The water in a saucepan, and after draining the dal, add to it, together with salt, turmeric and chilli powder. Bring a boil, and then turn the flame quite low. Keeping the lid on, until the dal is tender. It may take about an hour. Mix it with a thick spoon without allowing the dal to get mashy. Place the butterfat in the frying pan, and fry the chopped onions and ginger, add herbs and garam masala just by taking it off the fire. Pour this mixture on to the dal, which should now be ready for serving. If you add a little of urad dal to it, the dish would be even tastier.
